I've been to Green Room Burgers & Beer probably 5 or 6 times over the last year; okay, maybe more. They offer a burger called the Dubbel Dubliner. This is one of my very favorite burgers in Kansas City. It's no doubt in My Top 3. The Dubliner is two beef patties topped with Irish cheddar, pickles, and Dijon mustard served on a pumpernickel bun. All of these ingredients work together delectably. I don't even remember what burgers I tried the first few times I visited Green Room because this is one of the only burgers I think about on a regular basis. Moving on. Their fries are excellent and their beer selection (especially of the local, handcrafted kind) is top-level. The only complaint I've ever had about Green Room is regarding the service. Sometimes it's right on target, other times it's unsatisfactory. But, really, don't let that stop you. It's a noteworthy establishment for burgers & beers. Also, I highly recommend dining during lunch hours for their specials.

Pretty cool little bar in Westport. They have a really well-run trivia night on Monday nights and that's what drew me in to begin with and now I've gone back quite a few times. The beer list is pretty extensive and always has some off the wall options that I don't see anywhere else. The rotation of beer on draft is also really impressive. Always have the local staples of boulevard and tallgrass but also some stuff that you would normally only find sold by the bottle. Unfortunately, I haven't liked any of the house brewed cask beers. Every time I see there's a new one I try it, but I have always been underwhelmed. Maybe I just don't get it, I'm a beer drinker but don't know all the intricacies. I've really enjoyed the food. I always always always get the diner fries, even when I promise myself that I'm only going to drink. Once you get in there and see and smell them, it's no longer an option. My advice is don't fight it, just order them when you get there because you're just delaying the inevitable. I've had the Orion burger, basically a mushroom swiss burger with horseradish, and thought it was juicy and the toppings tasted fresh. I have no complaints. The Tank 7 onion rings seem like a cooler idea than they are in reality but they're not bad, just meh. Their biggest fault is not being diner fries.

Love their burgers! Great beer selection too. They have board games scattered around to pick up and play.

I wanted to like this place. But a soggy veggie burger topped with slab of cream cheese and onions was so gross. So was the cook who came out playing with his beard. And the bartender coughing nonstop. Deep chest cough. I felt a bit sick eating.

Don't drink the beer they brew. Certainly don't get the flight. It's like $14 and not worth it. Also be prepared to wait. If it's an evening and there are more than 5 people in the place, the service will be awful. Having said that, they have Tank 7 on draft and they are next to the Kick Comedy Theater which I adore. So they have that going for them. You can buy drinks at the bar (just buy 2 at a time!) and you can bring them next door for the show. Do it. It's fun.

We went mid-afternoon on a weekend, and the place was empty. The bartender was really friendly though and acted as our server. Very tasty burgers and a great beer selection. I love the in-house barrel aged beer that they do here. It definitely adds a nice flavor element. The burger selection is fairly standard but made with high quality ingredients. Nothing too fancy but very solid. Their fries are good too - not too greasy. Definitely would recommend if your in the mood for a burger in Westport...they will have to fight it out with the Wesport Flea Market for dibs on 'best burger' in the area though.

I really hate giving this place only 3 stars, because I really do love it. Maybe that's why I waited so long to post a review. I was hopeful! This is a cool bar and the service ranges from amazing to pretty bad (as in super slow and neglectful, not rude). The burgers are a good size, leaving you full, but not hating yourself. The downside: the burgers are usually on the dry side... and every single time I've eaten here (~10 times), I've had a ball of unincorporated seasoning in my burger. Every. time. And more than once, my bun was so stale that I had to just eat my burger without the top bun. I probably would have mentioned it to the waiters on the few occasions that I had both a stale bun and that damn ball of seasoning, but when I was irked enough to mention it, the waiter was pretty absent, so I left hopeful--- thinking, "Next time! There will be no ball of seasoning!" I would recommend it, but for the atmosphere, the fries, and the beer.

Not as good as they used to be. Stale bun. Took over an hour for 2 people to get a burger. Awful service.

I hate that I'm giving this place a 3 star... I came here and made the mistake of getting the veggie burger and even though it looked amazing, it seriously was the messiest experience ever. The burger absolutely fell apart. I felt like an idiot attempting to eat the messiest burger that I'd ever ordered in my life and to top it off, it wasn't that great. I'll give it another shot and probably try another burger the next time but for now, I can't give it rave reviews.. :0(

I wanted to like this place.... After visiting this place during First Fridays, I can say that I probably won't be back. We walked in to a surprisingly less crowded venue than any other restaurant/bar we passed. While we were seated immediately, it took FOREVER to have our order taken... But pretty much an ETERNITY to get our food and drinks... And we were sitting at the bar right in front of everyone's faces. And to wait that long for mediocre food was the biggest letdown. The staff seemed pretty cool, but the wait and BLAH food wasn't worth it.

Great burgers. Had the Pappy last night. The goat cheese, grilled jalapeños, and fresh jalapeños worked so well together. Also, a great selection of beers.

I used to like this place until my experience the other day. Three of us had come in for a late lunch on a Sunday after moving a bunch of stuff outside. We were exhausted but excited for a good burger. When we walked in, there was quite literally 4 other tables occupied in the whole restaurant. Our server/hostess guided us to the back of the restaurant and motioned us to sit at a big round table that could seat six. It was also right next to a couple of other parties, so one person in my group asked if we could sit at one of the taller tables. Her response, 'no, I won't be able to get back there very easily.' and put the menus on the table and walked off. I would understand if the restaurant was busy or if there was another server that had that section. It just seemed like she didn't want to walk the extra 10 feet and had us sit at a giant table next to another table that she was having an argument with. Probably the most uncomfortable/weird restaurant experience I've ever had.

Nice hidden gem in westport. Don't fret if you get a few stares when walking in. The regulars quickly go back to non-seqitur conversation once the door closes. Joint is overall friendly and the more you visit, the easier it is to join the bar banter. As for the food and beer - plenty of both. They brew their own beer as well as a healthy supply of lesser known brews on the menu. They feature burgers and other bar fare - the fries are phenomenal. The burgers are on the way better side of ok but I wouldn't go do far as to say they're worth travelling for. background music ranges from Wax Tailor to Tom Waits. Atmosphere is your typical neighborhood bar (not to be mistaken with strip mall bar - that would be terrible). Definitely worth a stop when in westport.

Food was very good. House brewed beer was excellent. I got service very quickly upon arriving. Nice atmosphere. Only complaint: It took waaaay tooooo long to get my check so I could pay and get on to my next thing. The people sitting next to me had the exact same problem. Both myself and those people were being totally cool, but also being totally obvious that we were ready to go. I'd be very willing to give it a try again, but never if I might be in a a hurry.

Great place with friendly service, awesome burgers and an even more awesome beer selection. Beer list changes often and is always reasonably priced. Burgers are huge but still affordable. Try the fries, I'm pretty sure they sprinkle crack on them :) Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable to give recommendations. A great local hangout.

Sat at the bar and got good service from the bartender. Their beer list was not up to date, they could probably make a second On Tap list to keep that more up to date since they offer flights as well. They had a large and diverse selection of bottles and taps. The Fiddler Fries were good and the Forty Ten burger was amazing! Easily one of the best burgers I've had in KC. I cannot believe I haven't been here sooner and will be back again often to try more of their delicious burgers.

Green Room is a place I don't go to often enough and I'm not sure why. The place has some of the better burgers I've had in KC and some crazy fry combos to go with them. I'm talking fries that come with over easy eggs on top of them. To boot, when you order a side of fries, it's enough to feed four people. As for the burgers themselves...honestly the best way to describe this is as though Bob's Burgers actually came to life. The combo of ingredients on each burger are pretty unique and each of them stand out. Eventually, I will try them all. Hopefully. Then there is the beer. Oh boy, the beer. This place is a craft beer lover's haven. The beer list is constantly rotating and is massive. Between the draft and bottled options, there isn't anything you can find. The owner also brews his own beer on site which guarantees you'll always have something new to try. Tip: If you follow Green Room on Twitter, they let you know of random specials like $1 off all beers on Fridays. Definitely worth following to see the deals.

Very good burgers and fries. Also the pulled pork sammy is very tasty. I eat lunch there about once a week and I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly staff. Overall a nice place that I enjoy a lot. I heartily recommend!

I found myself trying to love this place and the food here more than I actually did. After reading the reviews I was really expecting something fantastic and special. I didn't experience those feeling, but I also didn't have anything bad to say either, things were just ok. The service was nice enough, but extremely aloof. A lot of blank stares. I love a good burger so I was a little disappointed in the somewhat bland tasting patty and stale bun. A stale, dense bun can ruin anything and it helped tremendously do that in the experience. The only flavor it really had was that of stone ground mustard, and that was after scraping a lot off of the burger! The fries were good and that's kind of the end of the story of the food we had at the Green Room. The atmosphere is fine. I'm fine with the old man's basement / VFW hall vibe that they have here, but it's really nothing special, just comfortable I guess. Yet it lacks that personality that a lot of old man basements have, this just seems like a lazier / cheaper version of that. As far as a comfortable place to have a burger and beer, this place is perfect. If you're looking for a fantastic burger in some great atmosphere, keep looking.

I know this place is like everyone's favorite, but it's so not my thing. The food was just eehh..nothing special. Typical food. Nothing crazy, nothing out of this world delicious- nothing I would return for. I came here during trivia with a few friends we planned to have a good time. We, like everyone else, were there for awhile (4 hours). I felt like our server literally didn't want to serve us. It was like we had to beg for beers. I feel like some sort of alcoholic, but I mean, in 4 hours I had 2 beers (not by choice). I was thirsty! And so was everyone I was with! I will not be back. There are better places in KC to spend my money and time. This place was just not my thing.

  • Tim M.

If you've seen my previous reviews, I have been up and down on this place. My latest experience is right in the middle. I swear the burgers are smaller than they used to be. The peppercorn flavor was missing too. I didn't detect the avocado on my 4010 burger, and the bacon was skimpy too. I have loved this place, but I also owe it to my fellow Yelpers to tell the truth. I don't think I will be back soon. This has gone from awesome to meh for me. Like the people, but it was just okay the last time. Note: if you need to raise the price, raise the price. But don't change the food. Bun was dry too.

The Green Room is one of the reasons I moved to Kansas City. True story. While I was interviewing here for a job, I wandered into the green room for a burger and a shake. I loved my food, and even more importantly, loved the service. Our bartender and waiter told us every place they loved in Kansas City, and our fellow patrons at the bar chimed in, making the city feel like home before we even arrived. Unfortunately, since then, while the service has remained the same, the meals have declined. The burgers have become overcooked. Some things have arrived cold. Don't get me wrong, I'll still go for my burger in a bowl and a board game, but I'll crave the atmosphere, not the food.

This is a great neighborhood hangout. I went there with the hubs last week and we sat on the patio. Despite the fact that this outdoor space is basically in a parking lot, they have done a great job of making it feel like a secluded hideaway. If you are sitting outside, please note that you will go up to a window, ring the bell, and then place your order with the bartender inside. It's a unique touch that adds to the low-key vibe of the place The burgers are solid and the fries are plentiful. The beer selection is great. Again, this is a really good neighborhood bar/grill and with the patio open, we will making several stops there over the spring/summer.

I have to say, I think Yelp gave me some unrealistic expectations of this place. I was expecting the burger to end all burgers. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, I just think I was expecting better. I also think they need to have some healthier options. One of my dining companions had the veggie burger which she thought was 'ok.' My burger (the 4010 for those keeping score at home) was good but just very greasy. As a table we split two baskets of fries (the fiddler and...farmer I think). Both had a fried egg on top. Which is kind of weird. Good...but weird. The service was good, building has a nice cozy atmosphere. I was surprised by the small size of the tables. We had a group of 5 and they had to push tables together to accommodate us. Again, the food wasn't bad, but just not what I was expecting. It seems like they are just trying to hard with some of the burgers; like how much unhealthy stuff can they fit between a bun. After eating there I just felt so greasy and like I had OD'd on salt.

There is no shortage of places in Kansas City to find a great burger. I feel obligated to point out this gem since it is a little hard to find and out of the way, but worth it. The place is squeaky clean, the staff is charming and friendly, and they have an extensive and fairly priced beer selection. But...this is about the burgers. I got the "Three little pigs". A knife had to be driven through the center to keep it upright and together, which added to the presentation of a Burger that already looked like the chef cared about what it looked like going out. Be careful not to over order fries, as they give you more than you can eat. In a city that is saturated with "the best burger" claims, The green room is quietly holding its own.

Most of the time, I consider myself a purest when it comes to hamburgers, I believe that a burger, like most foods is a prime example of balance and that simple is better. I believe that a good burger is cooked on a griddle, or cast iron skillet. The patty should be no thicker than either the top or bottom bun, the cheese should be American cheese, and standard dress is all that is required. The only addition is bacon on occasion. I'm not saying that the occasional oddball isn't excellent, but for the most part not necessary. All that being said, the Green Room might be the best burger in the Kansas City area. Nothing fancy, nice toasted bun, good crust on the meat and it was well seasoned. The fries were exceptional and overall had a great experience. If you too are a purest then Green Room is for you.

Great burgers, cool atmosphere, great music ( not too loud ) large drink selection. Very dive-ish and a lot of bang for your buck! I'll come back for sure!

  • Thaddeus O.

The Green Room isn't very close to my house and therefore I eat there less than I'd like. Every time I go, I remember why other burgers in the area are so inferior. Jalapenos (if you're into that) are fresh, not pickled. The selection of cheeses are fantastic and the quality meat really shines through. The huge beer selection doesn't hurt either!

Killer onion rings and the $1 mystery beer make this place fun. The burger I had was just okay, it was a little dry but the onion rings made up for that. Service is a little slow but there is enough people watching to keep you entertained. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very good. The kitchen is just slow. We did however get to watch them make beer since they left the kitchen door open and that was cool. We will go back I want to give the burgers another try.

This place is the bees knees. Came in on the Monday before leaving Kansas CIty. The atmosphere was relaxing, they have old board games you can play. It wasn't that busy because it was a Monday so maybe my experience was more attentive and amazing than others. Came here because Untappd recommended their Southern Tier Pumking brew and I really really wanted it. I don't regret it. It was delicious. Had the veggie burger (can't remember the name) and definitely recommend it. Ingredients were fresh and tasty. My friend got the Alice Burger which was pretty good as well. They also have specialty burgers that they apparently make up early in the day. We tried this peanut butter burger. Lots of onion. I'm not a fan of peanut butter, but the burger itself was good. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The bartender made this drink that was half Schlafly Pumpkin ale and half Summit Oatmeal stout and asked us for name recommendations. We named it the Headless Horseman and he put it up. :) So that was super cool. I would've like to sit there longer and just relax, but we had a flight to catch. Next time, KC...

My friends and I frequent The Green Room. They have an excellent variety of local beer, and great burgers. I don't usually eat red meat, but I throw that rule out the window every time I visit The Green Room. Their fries are good and the service is good too. They also have a bunch of board games available to play if you're sticking around awhile. It's a fun casual atmosphere, and the food is basic yet 100% delicious.

It's kind of hidden in the back. Great lunch special where you pay 9 bucks for a burger, fires, and beer. Had the Breakfast burger and it was good. It's not the best but it's not the worst either.

This was an awesome place to hang out. Loved the burgers, beer, and fries. My friends and I had a great time sitting around the table and playing one of the available board games. I'm a fan!

We went here a few months ago and enjoyed our experience. The atmosphere is a bit bland and lacking. You can definitely tell it's a strip mall store turned "restaurant." The staff were super chill and friendly. They provided quick and good service. The servings are quite huge. We had the fiddler's fries and a burger. The fries are a giant heart attack on a plate, but they were delicious. They were loaded with a fried egg, jalapenos, cheese, and bacon. Mmm. They have about 10 taps, and all are reasonably priced. Although their taps are somewhat limited, they do have some interesting selections. In short, it's a chill place to go for a beer and burger. More low key and less crowded than the average Westport places. Not a high frills place. The atmosphere lacks character, but the staff and patrons make up for that.

The food and drinks are good...if you can ever get them. My boyfriend waved money at the bartender for 45 minutes trying to order a drink and was completely ignored. We finally gave up and just got a beer at the comedy show next door.

Had a great lunch - BLT and the burger with Goat cheese (I've forgotten the name). The BLT had yummy slices of apple added for another flavor on the wonderful marbled bread. The fries were great and still have a little potato skin - my favorite! The homemade ketchup was alright and the chimi sauce for dipping seemed like it might have been better suited to pesto on a pizza, but it was fun to try something new. Overall - lunch atmostphere was relatively quiet. Only two other tables at noon on a Friday. It seems like they might hit their stride for an early dinner/happy hour or LATE night crowd. We'll be back for the great beer menu another time.

I had an OK burger with some great fries and a cold beer in a soulless dining room with some mediocre service! Not enough to make me want to leave my house for an experience like this one again. I'd rather give my money to an establishment that tried a little harder. I felt a little depressed by the time we left, the place needs some personality. Better burgers, equally cold beer, great service and better atmosphere can definitely be found in Kansas City.

Excellent burger and I'm more of a chicken fan myself... Can't remember the last time I had a burger and I'm glad I had one here, it was excellent - also had some fries with a side of homemade ranch which was EXCELLENT! A must go in kcmo

Yes... worthy burgers and passable fries can be added to my previous review of excellent beers. I did a custom burger of with Dubliner cheese, grilled jalapeno, grill onion, avocado, and aioli. The burger can out perfectly topped and seasoned well with salt and an obvious amount of black pepper. It was soft and delicious... almost fragile in a way. A very sexy burger. lol The fries are fresh cut and tasty, if rather limp. Can you get crisp on fresh cut fries? Sure, but they'd cost $5 for a small basket instead of $3. SO I can live with the flavor and lack of crispness I suppose. They are seasoned well, too.

Burgers were good, fries were soggy and not that great. We also waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering. The soda comes in cans for $1 apiece, which isn't really a big deal, I understand smaller businesses do this often. I gave the green room 2 stars for the overall experience, had the service been better I would have probably given 3 just for the burgers alone.

Wow, it almost hurts to write a negative review about my experience here. I so much want to like it that I plan to go back sooner rather than later. After hearing all of the positive hype, particularly about their veggie burger, it's possible that I had gotten over excited in my expectations, that said though, my expectations were not met. It wasn't the staff-one bartender who was running the entire front of house who actually admitted that they were a bit understaffed and had run out of pre-prepped items so the kitchen was busy prepping more before meals could be cooked-it was more the after product. Having been an overworked bartender/server in my past, I can recognize someone who is working hard and doing their best and this girl was doing a really great job. She went above and beyond to meet the requests of all of her customers, even those like me waiting on a to-go order. She wasn't insanely busy but as she was: runner, server, bartender, cashier, etc, she was spot-on in her performance. My food however, was not. I live a quick ten minutes from Green Room. By the time I got home, our fries were a soggy, extremely greasy mess. I don't judge too harshly on that as that sometimes happens with food to go, but the grease factor, as in dripping with it, was a bit disconcerting. The fries seemed to be freshly cut, or at least tasted like it, so they had that going for them. On to our burgers. My friend Jen and I had heard great things about the veggie burger so we both decided to try one. Those babies are SPICY! I could barely eat mine. I have a decent spice tolerance but hers is much better than mine and even she admitted that it was a bit too spicy. She liked it ok, I found it a bit overwhelming. I also had a hard time eating my veggie burger because it was burned and crumbling out of the bun. Veggie burgers are sometimes hard to make and have them hold shape but mine actually made clinking sounds on my plate as it crumbled and fell down when I tried to pick up my burger. That's how charred it was. I eventually gave up on eating the veggie patty and just ate the toppings off of it. Disappointing. As stated, I do want to go back to Green Room and eat in house. I'm happy to hear that they're brewing their own beer and I want to support that. I sincerely hope that they pick up their prepping, staffing, and food quality to match the buzz about them.

We've been here twice. The experiences have been underwhelming. From the cold French fries to the OK burger and the super slow service, I do not see myself coming back anytime soon. So sad as I just LOVE burgers!

I love the fries and Tank 7 onion rings -- they are the best! However the service, though still friendly, has been inexplicably slow the last couple of times. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy so I'm not sure what was up. Also, what's up with the owner writing haikus out of some of the more critical reviews?? If I owned a business I would either ignore the naysayers or address their complaints professionally.

Got food to go for 3. Way overpriced for what we got. Stale buns, the 3 burgers were prepared wrong (not that hard guys) 5 very small onion rings with the burnt coating at the bottom (exposed slightly cooked onions) and burnt fries along with it. Soggy fries (in a separate tray) . All that for over $40.00! Won't go back.

My first visit to Kansas City was this last memorial weekend. A friend from college lives there now and since it's been awhile since we've hanged, I agreed to come up from Denver for a visit. I don't know what I was expecting from Kansas City, maybe lots of redneck farmers and tacky chain restaurants, but actually the city was pretty impressive. It was clean, had lots of young, funky people and an actually pretty good amount of cool, independent businesses. Green Room Burgers & Beer was one of those cool places. It's a sweet little bar tucked way back in an improv theater. Not the biggest space and a bit hard to find, but the food was really good. My burger was a spicy veggie patty that had avocado and smears of yummy goat cheese all for only $6. The patty itself could've used a bit more flavor but the toppings were really good. The beer selection is top notch with the full roster of local Boulevard and Tallgrass breweries plus a good selection of others from across the country. It took a while for a food to come out, but the bartender was really nice and gave us updates and apologies about the wait. I came for a trivia night and the small place was packed with people eating, so I can understand why it took a bit. And it didn't matter once I was gorging myself with my burger. Kansas City is definitely a cool place and Green Room Burgers & Beer was definitely a big factor in that opinion.

I have wanted to come in here for a while now after reading reviews. We finally made it out on a Saturday night. The menu looks decadent and gave me some ideas for stuff I can fix at home, but we had both already eaten, so this is solely for the bar. Parking sucked. I feel sorry for anyone who legitimately needs to shop at SunFresh on a Saturday at midnight because goons like us are probably parking there to get our drink on at The Green Room or go to the Improv. Them's the breaks though; it's Westport. Reviews had mentioned that this place looks like someone's basement family room from the Seventies, so I had dark paneling, shag carpet, and dim lighting in mind. Wrong on my part, but so correct! If you imagine a painted concrete floor and those cookie-cutter spindly dining chair sets with scrolly backs though, then you got it right. It was also brightly lit, and I really prefer dim lighting when I'm boozin it up after a working weekend. What made up for it was the fact that the busy bartender immediately looked at us and greeted us when we walked in the door. He was genuine. I am big on communication and people skills since I teach that stuff for a living, so Mr. Bartender is a shining five stars!! I loved the eclectic mellow crowd. The bar is pretty small, and for something so near Westport action, I was delighted to find a mature-acting crowd there for good drinks and conversation. I think many of them were twenty-somethings, but man they were cool! Nice to find that in Westport. The beer selection is pretty great for a small joint. I had a Blue Room Pale Ale which was perfectly lightweight. I followed up with with Buffalo Sweat. Yum! BF had an IPA we hadn't tried before, and then he had a Grand Teton bottle of something. The ladies' room was hilarious. I grew up in Pentecostal church, and this one was straight out of Kansas City Temple (means nothing to all of you but brings back vivid memories from my childhood.). Clean and flowery, and I will leave it at that. BF and I both left feeling happy. . .happy that we have discovered another gem in KC. Happy that we have another option for our short list of KC awesome Saturday nights.

I've been here a couple of times. The meat is the real attraction for me. It's local stuff from Bichelmeyer meats. There's just something about it delicious. The fiddler fries are also an experience, with the bacon, and cheese, and egg. We didn't have that great of a time taking the kiddo with us. No high chairs that I saw. I mean, it's a bar and grill technically. While I've never done any drinking there, you get it. The sides seem expensive till you realize that the fries are enough to share between a couple of people. I'd really like to try the rings some time. It's a bit of a special trip for us, since we don't really travel down to Westport all that often, and I don't work near there anymore, but it's certainly one we'll be making again.

Spouting a similar point. This place is kinda like going over to your hipster friend's basement where he has good beer on tap (+ makes his own) and serves you a tasty burger. The burger is not gourmet. It's not like a Blanc Burger or Beer Kitchen burger. It's not that thick red juicy kinda burger. This is neighborhood. This is home-style. It's just solid beef, cooked medium with good cheese and fresh bread. Not really different from what you can probably do in your kitchen if you head over to the artisanal cheese section and real bakery section of your local grocery. store. Burgers are mostly $8 but the standard burger is $5. The fries are tasty. Fries are extra at $3 for a small and I think $5 for a larger. They've gave the right amount of salt and seasoning. Good to munch on with a beer. Buy a burger. Share a small fries. Have a beer with a friend at the bar. You'll get out for under $15. Not a bad deal. A nice regional selection of beer under $5. Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri. The decor leave something to be desired. Honestly, they'd be better of throwing up some green lights and dimming down lights in the place to create some ambiance. Right now it does feel kinda like a suburban basement. Only one TV in the joint, but they'll change it to what you want. They're obviously still putting stuff up and things together, so I'll leave some credit that they'll be improving over time. I honestly like the spot. Lots of parking right there. Perfect spot to park, have a burger and then head into Westport for the evening.

So, not sure where to start on this one. My husband and I have been coming since the opening and have never been disappointed! There have actually been weeks that we have been here 3 times or more just for a beer and fries! (which are to die for). Mike and his staff are friendly, cool, and laid back. I have had some great conversations here! That aside, the burgers are amazing. Between myself, my husband, and my three kids, we have tried nearly all the burgers on the menu. All have been amazing, perfectly cooked and tasty! My hands-down favorite is the breakfast burger (sans jalepeno, I'm a wimp). The cheese, bacon, and fried egg, make for a heavenly combination to their already succulant hamburger. We always pair our burgers with an order of fiddler fries. A giant basket of hand-cut fries topped with bacon, jalapenos, cheese, and a fried egg. They are too delish for words. Far and away, the best burger I have had in Kansas City! Do yourself a favor and go there!

Went to this place for lunch. I was expecting more of an old building look from a beer bar like so many other bars in Westport. Instead was treated to a more home style atmosphere. Board games lined along the railing. Small, quaint tables. I ordered an XYZ burger and it was extremely good. I see other people commenting that they weren't satisfied with theirs, I cannot see why. Fries were great too. You can tell everything is handmade, from the taste to the presentation. The beer selection was great for the size of the bar. It seems like they tried to fit a tap wherever they could. They even have beer that they brew themselves. I guess my only problem is the atmosphere which really isn't my type. Its a pretty small place that I could see getting overcrowded on a weekend. But for lunch there's no problem. The price seems about right. I think enough goes into the food to justify the slightly above average prices. So yeah, go here for a burger. I find it hard to believe you'll be disappointed.

If it had not been for Yelp, I probably would never have known that the Green Room was there. Thanks, Yelp. The restaurant is next to a comedy club, which is below a coffee shop in a large strip mall area, including Westport's supermarket, so has lots of parking space. The Green Room's veggie burgers are among the best in the KC area. Salads are very good, with clearly fresh ingredients. The hummus preparation is spicy. The fries are very good, but they do not have sweet potato fries. The service was slow, but was not the fault of the server, who was excellent. The delays were in the kitchen. Although they have more beer selections than wine choices, the wines by the glass are good ones at reasonable prices.

Back this weekend for another great burger, got the onion rings this time. Again, a single order is big enough for 2 people to share but honestly, you're not going to want to. The fluffy batter is lightly crisp on the outside and almost funnel-cakey on the inside... we devoured them. Green Room Onion Rings, I dub thee Onion Doughnuts!

I think the green burger (veggie burger) deserves 5 stars. But I can't award a burger place that unti I've tried the real thing. It's a really small place, so I was concerned about making my way in for St. Patty's Day. They said they were at capacity and had a one in one out rule, what the hell? Anyway, I talked my way in since my friends were already inside. They had been sitting there for a while and still, no food. The server was sympathetic and very friendly, however. As long as we waited for our food, it seemed to be worth it. Especially for me. The veggie burger is spiced perfectly and isn't too much. To top it off, it came with an AMAZING garlic aioli. Fair warning: it's REALLY garlicky. Felt it on my breath for hours. All my friends seemed very happy with their beef burgers, so I'll have to try it some time. The place is new, so I'll forgive the slow service. Would definitely head back.

I have never been a hamburger person, but suddenly I crave them, and am totally willing to drive out of my way to get them. And they do this thing where they take your hamburger innards and put them on salad greens, which means you can't just wolf it down in less than a minute, and so all of a sudden it's A Healthy Low Carb Choice. Plus, half-pours of beer so you can make good choices when it's ALMOOOOOST time to go home.

Another midday lunch time special for a cold Thursday. Lost on the thoughts of where we should eat, the idea to finally try Green Room out popped in my head, right in time of the hunger of a good burger kicked in. I've walked by the location several times during the drinking jaunts of Westport weekends, so I was a bit surprised how laid back and relaxed the atmosphere was inside. I loved the interior more than most places in WP. Ordered the Poppa burger or whatever the spicy one is called. Delightful, the spicy spread on the bottom was nice and a bit more fiery than I expected as a bit o' tear was found dribbling out of my right eye and a bit of snot had attempted to escape my nostril. Onions and jalapenos were freshly cut and crisply delightful. The Bichelmeyer meat was hearty and meaty, the right size in the day of the ginormous thick burger everywhere. We split a fry order between us and the potatoes seems like a nice fresh cut as well, fried perfectly. And then there was the beer. I've been wanting to try Mother's Imperial Three Blind Mice for a while now, and would have settled for bottled, but Green Room had it on tap at a realistic price that wasn't out the wazoo. The guy working the counter was pretty awesome too, wearing a Iron Maiden shirt and talked about how awesome House of Cards is and how much America's Pub was the worst place on earth. This is what Blancs was back in the day, possibly even more relaxed and fun. This is my new go to burger joint for when I have class and that joyous 3 hour burger break.

Um, YUM! Some friends had purchased a Groupon for this place that included 4 beers and 2 apps so we decided to give it a try. We had the humus (I'm not usually a fan but I did like this!) and the Fiddler Fries. They had a good beer selection and we were informed that they were going to start brewing their own, they just got city approval about a week prior. I had the Breakfast Burger and I must tell you, I grew up on a cattle ranch so I can be an unintentional beef snob, but this beef was delicious! I would be proud to bring my dad here. The burgers don't come with fries but if you check in on Four Square they do have a special where you can get them. However with our fiddler fries and our humus we were good to go. Ok a bit of the downside. I don't blame the waiters at all because they were doing IT ALL. They were tending the bar and serving. So it took us a bit to decide what we wanted and our server kind of forgot about us. We were able to flag down the other server and right after that he came over. Our food didn't take long to come out after we ordered. I will certainly be returning.

Well, here's the rundown...We were quite optimistic about this place-decent menu, good prices, and walking distance from our house. So we went into this experience with high hopes. However, our actual experience was quite bleak. It was a Saturday night and we were the only people in the place for the majority of the time (kind of awkward). We sat at the bar, and, out of sheer boredom I am guessing, the bartender continuously inserted sarcastic remarks into our conversation. He also repeatedly interrupted our conversation to tell us about his thoughts on each song that was playing and his take on the scenes from movie on TV in front of us. I am all for interacting with the bartender, but he was definitely over bearing and didn't recognize that. Then at another point the bartender and manager (?) began to argue loudly across the room over the choice of music playing, then they proceeded to discuss possible reasons why no one was there on a Saturday. I could have offered them several reasons....shitty atmosphere, slow kitchen, bad service...anyways, they were completely perplexed. Despite those downers, the burgers are good-nothing spectacular or award winning, but definitely good. The onion rings are quite memorable and the beer list is well-curated. However, the atmosphere, the kitchen, and service will probably be enough to keep us eating burgers elsewhere.

The gang and I come here every Monday night for Geeks Who Drink trivia... so I'd say we have had a good selection off of their menu. Their veggie burgers are house made and legit - none of the frozen boca burger crap (no offense boca...) You can pretty much sub any burger for a veggie burger so picky our toppings: shrooms, onions, avocado... it's no wonder "burger" is in their namesake. Don't disregard their appetizers either. Their hummus has a lovely kick of spice to it and the pita is served warm. Also note that their loaded fries are NO JOKE. it's seriously huge and seriously loaded. not skimpy at all. Alongside their burger/fry fare, this joint hosts a nice variety of beers. I'm a Mother's Winter Grind gal myself and am always pleasantly surprised to see it on tap. The venue is seriously nothing special. Just a large room with a bar and a mid room half wall... but it's our go-to trivia joint and we always have a good time!

Solid Burger, great fries and friendly service. The single burger is a bit on the thin patty side but i really enjoyed it, the meat was really good quality. The fries are really good. This place must utlize Costco up the road a lot because pretty much all the cheeses they us I have seen at Costco. I am a fan and I will be back.

Great burgers and fries, vast beer selection, friendly staff all nestled into an unpretentious location. Oh, and did I mention that I think they're going to start brewing beer. I've only been once, but look forward to many more trips in the future.

im so sad that my review is at only 2 stars, because the first time i came here, i thought it was burger mecca. my boyfriend and i left our first experience here seriously floored- the burgers were juicy and flavorful, we couldnt stop eating our fries, the bartender was super friendly, and the beer was delicious and smooth from the nitro tap. we were convinced we would come back over and over, and we did- each time to our increasing disappointment. we have gone to green room probably a total of 5 times now, and each time it has gotten progressively worse. the specialty beers they offer are very hit or miss, and the same goes for the service. with the exception of one awesome server/bartender, you can expect to run out of your drink and wait around a while before being offered another by the other servers. additionally, the burgers that i at one time could be quoted as saying were the "absolute BEST ive had in kansas city" (after my first visit), are also simply sub par. you have such high hopes when you read the description on the menu, only to have your dreams crushed when you bite into a bland, unimpressive stack of meat and toppings. also, last time we went there we tried the onion rings instead of the fries- dear god, worst onion rings ive ever had. they tasted like... well, like nothing. it was as if they didnt even season the batter. i basically just doused mine in ketchup and ate them that way in order to fill up, because i certainly wasnt going to finish my burger. oh, and theyve also started doing a new thing by offering sides (at least i think it's new, because up until this last time we were never offered a complimentary side) of fruit, cottage cheese or coleslaw. i opted for the coleslaw, which actually tasted pretty okay, if not a little on the peppery side, but only ate a bite or two because it was room temperature, and i immediately pictured myself later that night doubled over in my bathroom with food poisoning. no thanks. overall, it's just been a down hill ride, and becoming more clear to me that perhaps instead of having four experiences in a row that happened to be bad, in reality it is more likely that our first trip to the green room was the outlier in an otherwise unimpressive establishment. i imagine i will give this place one more shot in hopes of recapturing a glimmer of that first great experience, but i wont be holding my breath.

Really love this place. Yeah, it feels more like a diner than a bar. But the burgers are great (even the one that isn't made out of meat) and the beer selection is phenomenal. A great selection of local stuff, and just about everything under the sun too. The beers rotate, so don't rely on the online menu...it's too hard to keep up so it is more of a "sample" of what they have. The service is great. The bartenders/waitstaff are friendly but on their game. The food is always prepared right the first time. And I like hanging for trivia, even if the place does get packed in .2 seconds flat. Everyone should try out the Green Room. I know that I can't wait to try the patio when the weather cooperated again.

My friends and I made our way down to Westport to give "Geeks who Drink" a try at the Green Room. There was about 8 of us making it difficult for us to be seated together inside, which was fine. It was a gorgeous evening so we opted to sit outside on the patio. It you are looking to venture here with a big party in the winter, you might experience some separation inside. Before trivia began, we all wanted to grab some food and beer so that our thinking machines would be well fueled. We were not terribly floored by the selection of beers that they had but given the size of the restaurant it was well above average. It was also nice that the servers were very knowledgeable about the selection. Their burger menu was unique and fun. I wanted to try every damn one of them! Every burger had its one twist or surprise that called out to me. I ended up ordering the veggie burger named the "Imperial Green Burger". I wanted to see just how good this place was because a good veggie burger is hard to come by. The burger I received was beautifully prepared. It was seared perfectly to give it that satisfying crunch as you bite on through it. It was topped with caramelized onions, avocado, and goat cheese. The goat cheese really made it! I also asked for one of their house made aiolis to accompany my fries which was really good. I do wish half of my fries wouldn't have been soggy, though. The aioli was garlicky and creamy; so good that I not only dipped my fries in it, I also shmeared it all over my burger. By the end of the meal everyone had went back up to the counter to order some. My husband ordered the "Three Little Pigs". I'm just going to assume that he loved it because by the time I could ask him how it was, it had disappeared. Trivia was an absolute blast and really "made" our experience. It was rather entertaining. We didn't win that night, but we weren't last. That's a victory in my book. Overall we had a great time! We will definitely be back!

I think I'm the one weirdo that thought this place was alright but nothing that made me desperately want to come back right away. My buddy and I shared the fried with bacon, cheese, and jalapenos and the portions were generous and the taste was great. I definitely liked them. As for my burger... well, I wasn't too excited after the first bite. I can't remember the name but I ordered the burger that had one veggie patty and one regular beef patty and I thought the meat patty was greasy and bland. The veggie patty was crispy to the point of being overdone and it crumbled all over the place as I ate. I think the atmosphere is nice and the beer selection is thoughtful. I also appreciate the bookcase loaded with board games and books. I really want to like this place more but for me the burger wasn't anything to write home about.

Very reasonable prices. Checking in gets you a free fry- which is awesome! I got a burger with goat cheese, and they did not skimp on the cheese, which was perfect! The patties are not season, which I found a bit strange. Seemed to have a decent beer selection. Service was not super fast and they weren't busy, but I would go back.

It was no coincidence that we came to the Green Room just before a show at Westport Coffee House. To get to the basement stage of WCH, you simply enter through a set of clandestine doors from the Green Room. We all ordered tasty burgers (Brownfield Cheese, Apple BLT, the 401), and unanimously agreed that the patties were fresh, because it flaked off only in the way that a patty formed that morning would. They were just the right size and price, if you wash it down with one of the many beers they had on tap. Mother's, Boulevard, Grand Teton, Green Room had it all. The place is modestly decorated and casual, but exudes a totally warm vibe. Apparently the patio on the side is also wonderful in warmer weather. I definitely would have liked grade 8 improv more if they had burgers and beers in those green rooms!

AH, went back and it was worse!! Waited over 45 minutes for a basket of fries and when asked, the waitress said: "they're coming out little by little, be patient!" Really? Not worth it, take your business down the street!

Best burgers in Westport. I don't think the ambiance is anything to write home about, as the decor is pretty bland and nothing fancy, but the burgers are SO GOOD! I ate at Beer Kitchen last time I was in town too, a place that prides itself on its gourmet burgers, but Green Room's burgers are far superior. And they're cheaper! You will never find this place without Google Maps, as it's hidden on in some random parking lot off of the main drag in Westport. But take the road less traveled and find this place, because the burgers are juicy with fresh and local ingredients. Oh, and they have a fine selection of KC beers on tap with daily specials.

So this place was ok. I would say that my fellow Yelpers might have hyped this place a little over its head. The burger for me was the real problem. Pretty small burger that was very dry. The different burgers they have are very interesting but the execution was just not there. I will say that the fries on the other hand were fantastic. Tons of crazy toppings with fried egg on top. Definitely something to try. They have an excellent beer selection and the ambiance is very relaxed and comfortable.

Best beer selection in the city; great french fries (be sure to ask what dipping sauces they have that day); and creative burgers (often, the front of house staff makes up the burger of the day on the spot, tells the kitchen later). One of my new favorite places to sit at the bar, have a bite, have a brew, and talk with the staff and other people around. A comfortable hang out with good food and people who know and appreciate beer.

I have been super excited to try this place.. i love the idea of the "secret" burger place and the burger and fries were a 5! Cooked perfectly and tasted GREAT! But the waitress/bar tender was not the best - not terrible - but not great/no personality and it took FOREVER for the food to come out. I went on lunch and so I expect restaurants to understand time restraints - all the other ones do in Westport. It took a good 25/30 minutes to get our burger - and there were only 2 other tables. The other "complaint" I have about this joint - is that they need a better decorator. If the Green Room had a more inviting atmosphere, more of a pub like quality this place would rock. I had their basic burger with cheese. It was great! There fries.. literally are something to write home about. The beer list was good. But serving me a can of pop is not a favorite. We had to ask for glasses with ice - and she looked kind of annoyed. 5 months they've been opened.. hopefully some kinks will be worked out and the place will continue to be better and better!!

This quite possibly is the best burger in KC. Yes, I understand the implications of that statement. I went there last night, and again today. The Dubliner Burger is so yummy I'm craving another already. Tillamock aged cheddar, house made pickles, stone ground mustard on a rye bun. Seriously, I could eat another right now. I also had the Fiddler Fries everyone raves about. Those are some fresh jalapeño!! So hot and so good. Today I tried the onion rings. At first I was a lil aggro that I paid $4 and only got 4 rings, but they were definitely the best onion rings I've ever had. And they were pretty big. I actually only ate 3. They also make their own beer. And they're good at it! My friend was worried about it being a hipster hangout, but was put at ease by the Metallica and Megadeath played behind the bar the whole time we were there. I'm pretty happy about this place.

This was about the fifth time that i've been to the green room and i can say that it's more or less on par with the rest of the visits. Today my wife and i went in for a lunchtime beer and burger. When entering there was a gentleman behind the bar dressed as though he was some kind of delivery guy, he turned and asked where we wanted to sit, we said the bar and he turned back around with his back to us shuffling some papers. We then sat there with his back to us for around 2-3 mins, until finally another "bartender" came by, she was nice enough getting our beers and food order quickly. All the while this guy has barely turned around to acknowledge anyone except one or two hot girls that we leaving. We wait a decent amount of time for our food, it get delivered by the delivery driver, and we never talk to the girl that took our order again, all she does is stand at the end of the bar on her phone ignoring all 5 people at the bar, while the delivery driver also has his back to the bar ignoring everyone as well. I felt sorry for the couple of people that were sitting at tables as they we really on their own. Our food was mediocre, my wife's burger was pretty cool to the touch and the patty was so small in comparison to the bun, my burger was alright but also lacking in size. They also forgot to give us any silverware, and it wasn't until my wife finally flagged one of the complacent employees down to get a knife to cut up her burger. shortly after this we, through a little resistance, got our check, paid and left. I've given this place a handful of tries and have been gravely disappointed each time, subsequently we shall not be returning.

So one day J comes home and talks about a great burger, and how we have to go to this place in Westport! Since, I've been there twice, and I have to say, yep, it's a yummy burger. First time there I had the classic, the Brownfield with cheese - J has had this both times we went. Good price, good burger. This time, I had the Orion - a burger with swiss cheese, greens, grilled onions (I forget what else) and horseradish, mmm. Tangy! Service was good - quick and friendly (although she carded us, whatizup with that? We are in our 50s. I, of course, look much younger :) but J is salt and pepper and shiny on the top, so, huh? She said "it's the law". Ok. Fine. Let me find my wallet... She was young and possibly inexperienced, but saw no irony in the situation, which might have at least made it funny(er). But she did a fine job otherwise. I didn't specify how I wanted my burger - it was a little 'well' for me - J said his was fine, although we both like them medium-rare. It wasn't bad - still tasty - just would've preferred it a little redder. So next time I'll make sure I ask for it that way. Waitress didn't ask, though, hmmm. This wasn't a deal breaker though. But it came med-well, just so you know. We split the smaller fries, per the (tiny) waitress's recommendation. Bigger would've been better for J, who can really pack it away. Splitting the small is fine for two average eaters. All in all, I really like this food, and would go back - it's an affordable and very tasty meal. Good beer selections too - I had a Freestate draw(the beloved Lawrence KS brewery) on special for $2 - score! The music is always very nice - not too loud, but listenable - classic jazz, and classic oldies like the Beatles. One thing though. Not to blame the Green Room because I know it's the trend, but turn off the frigging tv. [What is it with tv's in restaurants. Drives me nuts.] A Lindsey Lohan movie was on, on a Friday night, every customer in the place most definitely an grownup. The music was playing, very nice, and Lindsey is on with the sound down and the subtitles on. Are you kidding me? I resent that you must summon the will to ignore it and focus on your companion. Turn off the tv if there is nothing on. Give us a little credit for being able to carry on a conversation. I'm on a rant now, and i don't blame the Green Room, but I HATE tvs in restaurants. They could pimp up the place a little bit too. Concrete floor painted red, yellow walls - not that it has to be fancy, but a little more inviting maybe. Get a friend with good taste to offer some suggestions. But anyway, it's a very good burger. Next time I crave one, this is where I'll go.

It's pretty good. 3 stars kinda looks bad but it's not a bad place at all. If I come back it probably won't be because the food is the best. It will be because the staff is friendly, has a dive-y feel to it and it's an easy joint for those days you're "just craving a burger and beer" and don't care whether it's fancy or not. I can foresee a lot of days spent here post swimming pool afternoons when I'm really hungry from baking in the sun.

The burgers are really, really good. It was a mix between Blanc and 5Guys, but the prices are closer to 5Guys. I have to mention that the comparison is for the style of the burger only. The flavor combinations are different and awesome at Green Room. I must with agree with Bobby M. in that it does feel like you are in your parents basement. To me, it isn't such a great thing. We walked in and it seemed like everyone there knew everyone else. It took a while for anyone to greet us. There is no hostess stand or anything that gives a direction as to where you are supposed to go. We just assumed that we could sit wherever. Once we found a seat, everything was great on the service end of things. The restaurant was too bright and there was no music. I am unfamiliar with the place, but I guess there is still a theater here as well. Also, the restrooms smell like a hospital (maybe this is good). I had the breakfast burger which included the following: two patties, tillamook cheddar, a fried egg, bacon, and grilled jalapenos. I may have left out a few things. The burger was one of the best I have ever had. Don't forget the fries, they are delicious too. restaurant setup: 3 stars service: 5 stars (once seated) food: 5+ stars

I'm no food critic. If I were, I may have some gripes about the decor, and all that nonsense. But none of that matters when it comes to delicious food. This place may have considerable influence in convincing me to relocate to an apartment around the corner from Green Room. I've been here twice, and tried different burgers each time. The first time I had the 4010, and the second time, I had the Pappy. Man, they make some mean burgers. Great, fresh ingredients, and some really great combinations of flavors. Their fries are some of the best I've ever had. Freshly cut and perfectly fried. Seasoned with some salt and pepper. Most recently, I had some chipotle aioli, and it really added a new dimension to the fries. Good beer selection, with even better recommendations from the staff. All around, great food, great service. Yum!

I have been going to this place fairly regularly for a while now and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots for a beer in Westport. Burgers are good with a wide variety quod toppings. Fries are sometimes a little soggy but still good and very generously portioned. But what really makes this place shine for me is the small intimate feel and great beer selection. They have a simple printed list of their current beers that is almost always up to date. I wish other bars would do something similar rather than try to have a server ramble off a list of partially remembered new offerings (I am looking at you Barley's). Service can be slow if they are busy but everybody is very friendly and the place just makes you want to relax and slow down anyway. If it is nice out check out their kind of hidden patio just stay away from the side by the dumpster or you might get a whiff of garbage with your beer.

I wasn't impressed. The beer selection isn't anything special, though they did have one draught selection from Cathedral Square in St. Louis. It's nice to see new breweries filtering across the state. They have a stated focus on local beer, but the bartender rubbed me the wrong way when he said that the focus is on Kansas beers, and the beers of nearby states. He might live in Kansas, but I don't, and neither does the bar where we were standing. It may have just been bad luck, but they didn't have the beer I asked for from their menu. The bartender said they were installing a new keg cooler for housing larger kegs, so my problem wouldn't surface as much anymore. I wound up getting a can of Tallgrass, which came with a large snifter. I understand that many different styles of beer have their own suggested glassware, but all I want when I'm drinking beer is a simple pint glass. I couldn't see any along the bar-back, which was mostly composed of the wall that was painted the same sickly orange pallor of the rest of the walls, broken in the middle with a small frameless two-foot mirror that brought to mind a 1970s-era dorm room. The people were very friendly and helpful, and we were never really in need of service. We were sitting at the bar though, which in my opinion is always the best way to get good service. Sitting at the bar though, we noticed immediately that there was no foot-rail! I love sitting at the bar wherever I go, but if there's no foot-rail, I'm immediately put into a sour mood. I tried to overcome it to be as impartial as possible about this place, but I can't pretend the lack of a foot-rail didn't have something to do with my overall negative experience. According to the Pitch's review, this is a beer and burger bar, so I tried a burger. The breakfast burger appeared to be gooily exactly what I wanted, but it came out bland and flavorless. I should have suspected when they didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked. It was beautiful of course, but the spell was broken when I took a bite. It's an assload of overcooked beef with some slight peripheral flavor, but for $8 I'm expecting delicious, and it was not. I would recommend they scale it down to one patty, and leave the meat pink when it's served. Or, even better, ask me how I want it. What they appear to be going for is an artisan food and beverage bistro, and that alone disappointed me. I was really excited when I heard there was a new beer/burger bar in town, hoping for the unsophisticated but tried-and-true dark wooden setup. What it feels like is somebody's basement, filled with items from a closing department store. I will give it another try in a couple months to see if they've ironed things out.

I decided to go vegan for two weeks so before I dove into the meatless abyss, I decided to have my last meal at Green Room and stuff my face with a burger and fries. Since that experience, which was only three days ago, I have craved the 4010. I wouldn't come here for the ambiance, rather for the Burgers and Beer. I am going to hold strong for the rest of this vegan adventure, but we will sure meet (meat) again 4010.

GRBB-For me, it sits at the top of all the great places to get a burger in this town. There is a good selection of beers on tap. The owner is a very nice person. We, as a family and with our friends, have enjoyed what we went for. I have a request, can we get a Hulk burger(smothered with Alvacado and salsa verde)on the menu? AR.

I was really hoping that this place would do it for me, it did not. Let's start out with the decor, it is all over the place. It feels like my basement in college with a bigger bar and carpet. I have major concerns with the AC here too, the vents sit right over the bar and are galvanized and unpainted. This will present a major problem once the humidity picks up and var patrons begin to get rained on. Service: I sat at the bar so I would imagine I would get a little back and forth banter going with the bartender. She was off in la-la land and had no interest in trying to have a conversation about what brought me in or what kind of beers I like. I ended up having a Mexican Coke which was priced right at $2. Food: I had a burger that was seasoned properly, which is to say a good peppering and a little salt, perfect for ground red meat. Though I am convinced they use frozen patties for their hamburgers, it appeared to be a very lean patty. I was going to ask for a side of fries but when I was told that the small was large and the large couldn't be eaten by one person I questioned whether they were giving quantity over quality so I passed. Overall I would like to give this place another chance but I would give it a few months so they get some more of the kinks ironed out. As it stands right now there are better burgers in town.

Yeeeeah!! Finally I have a burger joint that serves local grass fed beef and makes insane burgers! We went to try this place and immediatly fell in love with it. We sat outside on the patio which was great and put in our order with the friendly bartender. Then they slide a window open and holler for you. Then we both ate the best burgers we've had in years! I have been telling everyone about it and can't wait to return! I'm now a regular

The staffs style is all unique, there is local art for sale, and board games available to play while you wait! Short turn games such as mancala! This is our second time here and trying new stuff each time. I think the burgers are definitely the best in town. They also have a a great selection of beer :-)

I really like this place! It's quaint with an eclectic choice of beers. I think they may even be in the process of serving their own locally brewed beer! Both times I've been to Green Room the food and service have been very good. It may be a small little place, but it's a gem!

Baller totally Baller. Went their Sunday for lunch before the NCAA games and needed to cure last nights "ales".(needed to leave the truck in the parking lot the night before, hitting this place was total luck). Totally did the job. Went with 3 others, we had the Fiddler Fries, Farmer Fries which were both crazy good. I had the 4010 burger and they had the 3 little pigs burger, mine was fantastic and my buds said the same thing. Everything hit the spot and then some. As far as the atmosphere, it totally worked for me and the staff were dang nice also. This place is definitly worth the 6.5 hr drive to KC, even if your not going to a BB game.

I have no clue what previous reviewers could have possibly been talking about. I honestly thought maybe we had walked into the wrong place. If these are some of the best burgers in KC, I would hate to stumble on the worst. We started with an order of Fiddler Fries which were pretty good. That was where I wish the meal had ended. I ordered a Pappy Burger. The menu promised grilled onion and jalapeno, both were raw. It also promised a juicy patty. This was the most dried out, bland burger patty I have ever had. Plus it was cold, as was the rest of the burger including the huge glob of goat cheese and the bun. It was honestly one of the worst burgers I've ever had. My wife had the Orion Burger which was slightly better, but still a huge disappointment. We were so shocked at the poor quality of these burgers is all we could do was laugh. We would have said something to the server, but she was indifferent the entire meal so we didn't bother. Beer list was extensive with some good choices, but our beers weren't even cold. Cold burgers and warm beer. Ugh. I understand places have a bad night, but how can a place with so many good reviews be so extraordinarily bad? I'm not sure, but buyer beware!

Inexpensive, unpretentious, wholesome food. The green burger is a house-made veggie patty (no cheap soy filler- I'm allergic, I'd know) with avocado, goat cheese, Dijon, and caramelized onions. For 6.50. Add a 3 dollar boulevard and you have a delicious sit down meal for less than a jimmy john's meal. I should add that I'm not a vegetarian! I've had worse burgers for 12 bucks. As someone who eats out too much, I appreciate the value and quality they offer.

Great burgers at hard to believe prices. Simple/short menu, but what they do, they do well. Staff was really nice and paid attention to order details. Atmosphere feels a bit like a recently renovated basement (probably because it is), but I expect over time that will become endearing, as I plan to go back often.

Great place for burgers and beers. The place has a dive bar feel without the crappy drinks and food. The tap list is great with a nice selection of MO/KS beers as well as some other national craft beers from around the country. There is a nice little patio that you can walk up to and order drinks or food at and is dog friendly(nice big german shepard there during our visit, but your service outside is mostly up to you as there is not a wait staff that comes by too often. Inside, was busy when we first walked in even though it was 9 p.m. on a week day night. We both got burgers which were some of the better burgers I've had in KC thus far and for the price they were even better. Very juicy without being too greasey. You get a choice of side with the burgers as well. The fries were average, definitely better than fast food fries.

Oh my oh my. Where do I start? First, I had the tour of KC that my hubby prepared. The man drove the streets like a native. He found this place AND my cousin put it on a list for us once he found out we wanted to go to local breweries. This was my absolute favorite spot that we went to--hands down. The area was totally cool. In a sense it reminds me of the Montrose area in Houston back in the day before the yuppies all moved in and destroyed most of the eclectic charm. Let's put it this way, if I had to live in KC, I would certainly consider this area because it spoke to me and I would want this place to be my home bar. We were fortunate to meet a couple of locals. Nice as pie. The bartender was a total doll. Very friendly people. Major points for all the cool games. AND total kudos for the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA game! I wanted to break out that bad boy but we had plans with my family. I cannot imagine visiting KC without visiting this establishment. Most definitely it is not a tourist spot. A sorta mixture of Rudz and the Harp to me (of which I know both owners). My dear friends, if you are making a journey to KC or you live there and have not yet stepped foot into this place, get off your butts and go there immediately. I think you will appreciate my prompt to do so. 100 Halley puppies throw back their heads and howl in glee!

I ate at the Green Room on Wednesday, 6/24/15 about 5:15pm. I sat at the bar and ordered burger and fries from the bartender. Bartender was great, very friendly. Waiting for my food, a guy sat at the bar with a basket of food which he was eating. BT asked him who is cooking? The guy said all orders were up. The BT asked him about the burger and fries (mine). The guy (cook) said he rang the bell 3 times and nobody picked it up. So he brought his food out and started eating. Neither the BT or I heard the bell. The cook could care less that the food was sitting back there. The BT went and got my food. The cole slaw was missing so the "cook" had to get up from his dinner. The food was almost room temperature. The 2 stars are because of the cook. BTW you would not know the guy was the cook because he was dressed in shabby street clothes.

Im extremely impressed by this place. Came in for the lunch special today due to the tractor beam sign "Beer tastes like freedom." I also opted for the Real American Burger today too and wow was it good. It was a daily special burger and the only downside was it was hard to bite into because it was so loaded. Good problems to have if you are shooting for a good ol' fashioned American heart attack. The in house robust porter, Abstergify, was extremely good. Not only was the in house beer delicious they also keep a couple of really nice beers on tap. This is, in my mind, what causes them to stand out. Most places carry a few generic beers on tap like Budweiser, Guinness, and the like. Not at Green Room. They carry only craft beers on tap and a nice spread of styles for every taste is available. The cherry on top for me was the nice close knit environment, the customers and staff all talk and share laughs about what's on TV or anything that comes to mind. I came by myself and felt like I was hanging out with friends even though I probably won't see most of these people again. If you are looking for a local nano brewer and amazing burger joint, look no further.

This place is AMAZING. Beer + fiddler fries + low-key vibe! Love that they have the cards against humanity game to play. And I'm not gonna lie, I like a bearded bartender. Super casual atmosphere with prices to match? Yes, please!

If you want to go to Westport and not deal with the underage drunk girls, expensive drinks, and parking hell, The Green Room is your JAM. I came here randomly on Trivia Night and had an AWESOME time with great people and great beer. My reasoning for only leaving 3 stars was because my burger sucked. Granted, I got their basic bitch burger with almost nothing on it, but c'moooon. The entire thing was about the size of my fist. Meh. Very underwhelming. However this place is super cool and SUPER secluded. It is located in the connecting road been Sun Fresh and CharBar. If you love beer, you must come and sample some of their beer that they brew in house. I'll be back to give it another shot, mainly for the beer though. Cheers!

I've heard my share of amazing comments about Green Room. They are all true! We came in hungover to the gills and left feeling like a million dollars. We did the $6 burger special...it came with fries and a soft drink. We improvised due to our condition and added on a spicy bloody mary. I knew the bloody was going to be good when he broke out the V8, worcestershire, tabasco, celery salt, etc. He built the bloody mary right there in front of us and it was just what the doctor ordered. The burger was off the charts with flavor, juicy, and the fries were fresh cut. These guys do it up right. There is a wonderful inventory of craft beers, boutique/local liquors, and they brew their own beer in-house. This place is small and located on the back side of a shopping plaza. Go out of your way to come here...it's worth the trip!

Divey comes to mind. But a clean divey. Didn't get a chance to check out the improv next door. But the food was good. Had the Blt with the apple slices which was a refreshing change from the norm. Added on the fiddler fries. Btw they use fresh jalapeños so expect some kick. They also threw a fried egg on top of the fries for good measure. The staff was a bit slow and a little stressed but still friendly.

Wanted to love a small brewery, but found this one lacking. Four in-house brews were on tap and only one (the Porter) was genuinely good. Not much feel in the place - a few arcade games and lots of boxed games. Food was fine, but nothing special. Ditto for service. We left saying ok, but not worth a return trip.

Finally made it to a place that's been on my radar for eons, but that I had just never made it to. I actually ended up here by fluke...the wait was grotesquely long at the place we first attempted, so we went in search of a backup purveyor of meat. On the pro side... -easy parking. I hate to be THAT person, but finding a place to park within reasonable walking distance can be a pain in Westport if you're coming in from another neighborhood on a Friday or Saturday night. This place's lot was no problem. -alright ambience. A relaxed feel, without going overboard on the trying to be mega hip. I didn't see anybody playing any of the board games, but it was a nice touch. -Tasty burger. Fresh ingredients, well-prepared, good bun. -Mountain of fries, enough to easily share. Slightly less pro side: -a little aloof. It seems like a small enough place where you could easily seat yourself and be seen by the waitstaff, but you have to be seated, and the guy (owner?) who seated us had to come all the way the long way out from behind the bar, where he appeared to be the only one working, to seat us, and it seemed to be...I don't know, a slight inconvenience for him to do so? Server was nice enough, but seemed somewhat rushed, though it wasn't that busy, and was tough to flag for refills or subsequent drink orders. -The burgers, especially the basic burger, is quite small for the price. My husband could have eaten three, easy, and he's not a huge eater. All in all, I'd go back, but would probably go for one of their trivia nights, which are probably fun, and bank on getting just fries and appetizers, which look to be a bitg more bang for your buck than the burgers. The burgers were tasty, but not all that filling. Could not indulge in the beers, thanks to a decidedly anti-beer fetus gestating within me, but they had a really nice list. I got to sadly sniff at the beer my husband ordered, which he quite enjoyed.

The green room is a hidden gem! We were visiting KC and found this little place on yelp after craving burgers and beer. It did not disappoint. A huge selection of beers to choose from, burgers were fresh and delicious and the fries were outstanding! They were running a lunch special when we were there: burger, fries and soft drink for $6 or $12 with your choice of burger, side and beer. It was inexpensive, casual and satisfying! Also, the owner was our waitress, so take heart that you are patroning a place which is local owned and the owners really care about. Only problem is now I'll be craving it from Dallas!

Good: the beer list, and the fries. The fries were great. The not so good: the burgers. Kind of like a slightly better steak and shake. Didn't feel like the I got my monies worth with the burger. Service wasn't great, but its a bar so I won't hold that against them.

Came in on a Saturday for the first time to have a burger and some fries. It took over half an hour for a burger and fries. When I asked the bartender if he could check on it, he was extremely rude and asked if I wanted it to go. It just sucks when hole in the wall spots with great food just miss with bad help. Then the burger sucked too.

Let me start off by saying that I have only been here once and it was for a crowded trivia event so my experiences may not be typical. At least I'd hope not. I arrived very early (over an hour) to the trivia event with a small team. Two bartenders seemed very annoyed that we had a small team and even though there were about 10 tables open, they wouldn't seat us until there was space at the bar. Annoying, but fair enough. But the bartenders could have been much less rude about it. Then, at the bar, one of the first bartenders was telling the guy sitting next to me how annoying it was that there was trivia because now the regular customers wouldn't have a place to sit. OK, this trivia started at 3pm and ended at 5:30pm, well between lunch and dinner rushes. Also, hello, I can hear you. I ordered a shake (with booze), fried pickles, and a salad. The shake was good, though I ordered Kahlua and my receipt said vodka, and the menu said +$3 for alcohol but I was charged an extra $4 (didn't complain about that). The fried pickles were alright, but there was literally about a cup of batter crumbs at the bottom of my plate. The order was huge and I didn't finish them, so I didn't feel ripped off, but the presentation was awful. It looked like the pickles were nested in trash. The salad was fine but not interesting, though the vinaigrette dressing was basically just balsamic and nothing else. I also tried one of their house brewed beers, the cask ale. It was honestly one of the worst beers I've had. I'm not a beer snob, but I consider myself a beer fan, and this beer just had too many bad ideas. It was sour, but not sour enough to be a sour beer. It was bitter, but not an interesting bitter. It was overly seasoned. It was served at room temperature, which I'm sure was intentional, but it made all those bad flavors stand out more. There was a third person behind the bar who was much nicer than the other two, but he seemed a little absent minded. Service was a little slow, but it was so crowded, so that's understandable. I'm disappointed because the bar had a very cool vibe when I walked in, but it just wasn't as cool as it looked. With the surly staff and mediocre food, I will probably not ever go back, unless there's another trivia I'm really interested in. EDIT 3/4/15: The owner sent me a very respectful message apologizing for my experiences and addressing my concerns one by one and taking blame for errors on their part. I certainly appreciate them taking the time to contact me and apologize. If I ever find myself there again, I hope I have a better experience so I can update my review.

Trust me when I say your booty will thank you for this visit. I've been going to Green Room since it opened and I couldn't be a bigger admirer. If only I could work up the courage to ask it out. Green room specializes in beers and burgers that come with a pair of thick framed glasses and an opinion about climate change. When I say specialize I mean each of their ten plus burgers were perfectly crafted with lasers and love. Marble Rye bread? An egg? Gorgonzola? Is this an NCAA bracket? Nah homie this is your face melting. They have other items on their menu but if you order a salad at a burger restaurant then you're simply wrong. This place gets five Gorgonzolas out of five because everything I've put in my mouth here has been magical. With that said, the service is unpredictable and this is a dive bar but it's totally worth it. Straight up though, this is on my list of best burgers in KC.

Im sorry but $37 for three burgers is just unacceptable. The burgers are small and the "sides" they come with are a joke. Three chunks of pineapple is not a side. One onion ring is not a side. A 1.5 ounce cup of coldslaw is not a side. It is a garnish and those burgers don't have enough to cost $11 on their own. But hey, its not my buisness. It seems like there is always a mistake on my order which gets annoying. The staff have the personallity of a mushroom. Im not saying you have to sing and dance and entertain me but a greeting would be nice. Maybe a smile and a thank you. After all 20% of my tab is paying your bills. If they don't like the job then quit. Ive never seen more than a few patrons in at a time but it takes forever to order and even longer to get served. Ive made the mistake of ordering cocktails, seemed like such a burden the bartender actually had to mix a drink. On a good note the parking is easy, the patio is nice. Board games are cool, your gonna need something to pass the time. If you like beer, they have alot of them.

I have only been here once. I live in the area and the outside never appealed to me. I heard that they have good burgers and went there the next time I needed a burger. I am kind of a burger snob because they have so many calories. I can't waste them on something mediocre. Walking into the place I wasn't convinced this was a place for a killer burger. The ambiance is English pub meets quaint country store. Lots of board games which I thought was cute. The place is painted in spring colors (quaint country store). They have a couple of TV's that weren't playing sports (thank God). I'm learning to drink more beer in KC which may or may not be a good thing. This place has a huge beer selection and it seems they have their own beer as well. I can't remember the beer I had, but it was fine. I ordered the Doobie burger? I can't remember the name but it had fried jalepenos on it. It was bar none, one of the best burgers I've ever had. I have been thinking about it everyday since. I can't wait to go back. I will need to add another working out regime to add to this possible new addiction.

Holy fried potatoes and grilled meat! I truly enjoyed my visit to Green Room Burgers & Beer and plan to go back! There's something I want to address right up front. Maybe I'm making excuses. I know the decor at this establishment is lackluster. But I kind of think that's point. Green rooms (unless maybe you're at a huge network set) usually don't have amazing furnishings. Green rooms are relaxed and have some places to sit. So ... this is what Green Room Burgers has. I'm not saying it's right. But it makes sense. And you never know ... when they place is a little more established, it may up it's seating game. But what I know is that they are focusing on quality ingredients. Plus, it turns out they have outdoor seating available too. I went with a group of friends. I'd heard mixed reviews, but more positive than negative. I found the prices to be in line with what was offered. I took advantage of the beer list by ordering a Free State Copperhead Pale Ale. Another person at the table went with a Coors Banquet. When the drinks were brought to the table, we all were amused that everyone got a pint glass with the exception of the Coors. The Coors came in the can with a chalice. Yes! Coors out of a CHALICE! Excellent! Moving on to the food ... I ordered the Dubbel Dubliner. This burger gets two thumbs up! Dubliner Irish cheddar is a favorite of mine and the fact that it's on a pumpernickel bun is awesome! The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. Another friend ordered the 4010 without jalapeños. I had a bite. It was excellent! The creaminess of the avocado and the crunch of the bacon paired with the nicely grilled hamburger was perfection! We also got some orders of dinner fries. Depending on how hungry you are, you can probably get away with a basket of small fries to share and be fine. Fries are pretty good. There does seem to be a great deal of love for jalapeños. I was curious about why ... but didn't ask. I highly recommend this place. it's tucked away a bit from Westport, which I like. If you can ignore the decor and focus on the food, it'll be aces!

My dude found out about Green Room from the KC Beer Blog, so our main purpose in going was to check out the cask beer. I looked over the menu prior to going and got SUPER excited about trying the Alice burger. However, the menu sounds a lot better than it is. It's not bad by any means, but my burger patty was too small for my bun, there was a ton of goat cheese, and not too much avocado. It was a great combo of ingredients, but not very well executed. The fries were really good and the portions were huge, but I would not recommend the onion rings. They were really heavy and overly battered. Where the menu is lacking in food, it makes up in the beer selection. The beer menu was very extensive and had some options that I've never tried before (which is rare unless I'm somewhere like Flying Saucer). The staff was quite helpful and friendly. I'll most likely try Green Room again, I just won't expect magic from the menu.

I have been coming here once a week for the last two years. This place is the ideal hole-in-the-wall. Parking is easy, and always available. Once inside, the staff is so friendly, I feel like I'm at home from the moment I walk in the door. Jenga and other board games are available to entertain while you wait for your food, and there is always a weird movie/show playing quietly in the background. The beer selection is no disappointment, with one special beer being brewed in-house. The food is extremely well-priced, with a burger being about $9. I always order the Alice burger with mushrooms- it is the best burger I have ever had. The fries are also mouth-watering and leave nothing to be desired. If I had one critique, it would be that I wish they would not have changed their ranch (its a bit oily and a greenish color now). The food is always out fast, and our drinks are never empty. I love this place, and if you're a dive person, I guarantee you will too.

The Westport Flea Market has been the standard for burgers in KC since I've been here. That said I think the Green Room burger might be better. It will take some research but its a damn fine burger. The fries at the Green Room are better. The beer selection not bad, pretty decent. First place I've seen the Tall Grass 8bit can. I'll be back. One tip on finding the place, its in the basement of the coffee shop on Pennsylvania, turn left into the shopping center the Sun Fresh is in.

The food was really good! It was a cozy atmosphere and they had a good beer selection. The building can be hard to see from the street because it is at the bottom of a hill so keep that in mind when trying to find it.

We drove right by it the 1st time. The address is actually the Westport Coffee House. The Green Room is located right behind it. Do not miss this place. It is great. I saw Boulevard Irish Ale on the menu, one I have never had. They let me taste it before I ordered. I ended up ordering 2. The food was super good. I got the 4010 Burger, E got the Brisket Burger & we shared fries. Oh, we also got the hummus with the homemade pita bread. Beware, the hummus is spicy. I cannot wait to go back. They have only been open 7 weeks &, if last night was any indication, they are here to stay.

The Green Room has a fantastic beer menu and a lot of really tasty burgers for a decent price. What I completely do not understand is the lack of help on the lunch hours. The waiter today was also the bartender and busboy. I didn't see one person in the place who wasn't waiting on something. The guy was completely in the weeds but I don't completely fault him. He needed some help and a lot of it. This place will not last if they continue to understaff over the lunch hour. There is far too much decent competition with burgers and beers in the Westport area.

I'm really baffled as to why people love these burgers so much. Though the menu claims to "cook to order," when I ordered my build-your-own rare, it came well -- they all did. Because the burgers are like 1/4" thick. And sprawling, like the cook just took a handful of raw meat and threw it as hard as she could onto the grill. These are also not assembled with care. Our burgers were very thin and hung over the edges of the bland, greyish, dryish buns, The sauteed onions were fine, but chopped (not my favorite texture for sauteed onions). The avocado was cut too chunky, so some bites had a big wedge and others nothing. They did put lots of goat cheese on my cousin's veggie burger, which she said was delicious. The housemade fries were quite good, and a large serving is a huge platter -- four of us shared one easily. We didn't have any salads so I can't comment on those. My Butterfinger shake was basically a miracle, but it would be incredibly difficult to eff that up. There aren't a ton of menu items, but the build-your-own options are pretty decent (including sharp Tillamook, Irish cheddar, goat cheese, aioli)... the regular menu is heavy on the jalapenos, so watch out if you aren't a spice lover. The service was very odd. Our server was sweet and friendly, and smiled a lot in front of us, but stopped as soon as she took one step away from us. We asked repeatedly to have the channel on the huge TV changed, as it was tuned to a science program featuring swarms of ants and larvae, which we found offputting, and though eventually someone turned it off, and then changed it to a welcome Daffy Duck cartoon, everyone acted like we were asking for our plates to be lined with gold or something. My aunt had iced tea, but there was no sweetener on the table. When she asked for it, the server seemed pensive, then brightened and said, "Yeah! I think we have something." She brought back raw sugar from the kitchen in a little ramekin, and no spoon to stir it into the tea. They've been open how long? that they don't have sweetener on the table? Is my aunt seriously the first person to order tea and ask for sweetener there? We were baffled. Also, they don't have high chairs or booster seats (yet?). We paid at the bar, and the server was nice about splitting the tab for us, done on the ordering pad instead of electronic tickets, like at Eden Alley. The vibe in Green Room is also curious. There's some crappy art on the wall, including what seems to be a painting of a sewage pipe, which along with the tables and bar tables gives it kind of a coffee-shop feel. The modest beer menu and the stereo pumping a medley of innocuous semi-oldies -- the Beatles, Bonnie Raitt -- didn't fit the hipster attitude we got from the bartender, cook and sometimes even our server. I'm not sure what this place is trying to be, and if it actually fits any kind of need in the area. In short, KC has a ton of great places, including many FANTASTIC burger places. This one is fine for the odd lunch out if you work nearby, but it's not a place I would go out of my way to revisit.

I went when they first opened up. Weird setup. It doesn't really feel like a restaurant, but more like something kind of thrown together. Huge portions of fries. Mediocre burgers.

Oh yum! This is a great place to get a burger and this Saturday it was the perfect spot for lunch. We sat down next to the big screen because Roseanne was on and i wanted to watch it. We were greeted quickly and I ordered a mexican Coke, my friends ordered tea and regular Coke but they do have a long list of Microbrews and actually brew their own beer. We decided to share the large fries that came with homemade ketchup that I couldn't get enough of. I ordered the 4010 which is a double cheeseburger that came with bacon, avocado, Tilamook cheddar, jalepenos and housemade mustard...amazing! My friends both ordered the Brownfield with cheese and while they said it was good, they thought it would be a double instead of a single and wished they'd ordered a double or 2. Their burgers were $5 and mine was $7, we also split the large fries which were $6 so no one paid more than $10 for the whole meal, well worth it!

I'm a big fan of this place. A summary of my appreciation: - Ingredient focused food (restaurant formulated recipe for the burger patties - using bichelmeyer meats). - Excellent prices for both food and beer. $5 or under for an awesome burger - yes, please. - A focus on craft brews, specifically those produced in the region. I'm looking forward to visiting this place quite a bit.

So good. Michael the owner is really nice. They don't treat you like family they treat you like a best friend. The 4010 and fires are amazing. It's like hanging out in your parents basement but in the best way.

DON'T GET THE COCKTAILS! They just got a liquor license and they have a very limited choice of liquor and a new cocktail list. One of the bar tenders said they weren't trained AT ALL on how to make drinks- so when she makes one of the 6-8 dollar cocktails, she's basically making it up, without knowing how much of what to put into the drink. STAY AWAY! Otherwise, This place is good. A little dark but- the burgers are good. The veggie burger is good also- though it was MUCH better when the place first opened- I guess this is par for the course. The weight staff can be quirky and sometimes awkward but that's ok. I'd recommend this place.

Great burgers and a great selection of Midwestern beers. As far as I can tell, this is the only place around that specializes in beers from this region. Decoration could be better, but I didn't come here for the ambiance. VERY reasonable prices.

While Green Room has really fantastic burgers, the service is less than desirable. I have gone a few times and the last time I went might be my last. The last time I went to Green Room I went with a friend, we both ordered a burger, a large order of fries to share, and each a beer. The meal started off by the one guy who was serving the entire restaurant coming to ask us what we wanted and then chasing some customers out of the restaurant because some annoying dude at the bar said that they stole the french fry basket.. okay? Once the server returned from outside after chasing down the french fry basket thieves and brought us our beers we then had the "pleasure" of listening to annoying bar dude tell the whole bar top the worst jokes I've ever heard. I realize Green Room is attached to the Comedy Club but come on dude... Fievel Goes West jokes? Stick to your day job. ANYWAYS after hearing annoying dude at the bar and having about 10 other customers come in with one server, we finally got our food. And by got our food I mean thrown down in front of us and a quick "do you want another beer?" as the server was walking away. My friend ordered another beer but it wasn't the right one, but instead of making a big deal out of it we just sat and watched the lone server run around like a mad man. Finally we got our checks, my friend and I were going to be on separate checks so when the server brought our checks out I laid out the only cash I had on me which was $100 bill. When the server ran by to grab our money he picked up my $100 and I asked "Oh, sorry that's all I have can you break it?" he literally threw my $100 on the table and said "I can't do anything with that!" as he took my friends card away, I assume to pay for both of our meals?! When I somewhat yelled at him as he walked off to the cash register "okay, well he isn't paying for that if you can't break it, I have a card!" At this point my blood was boiling and I couldn't get over what just occurred. Listen, I totally realize lone server dude was crazy busy but no need to be rude! It's not my fault you're working a busy night by yourself, there's no need to throw my money back at me when I'm just trying to pay for my meal. Although I highly doubt I'll come back here maybe you'll have more luck with service if you try and steal a french fry basket..? Good luck!

This spot is quickly becoming a Wednesday night routine; which coincides with the weekly IFC KC chapter meetings I've been attending lately. Usually there is a high quality draft beer on sale, and the burgers can possibly come with a free side of fries (if you use that other social networking check in app on your phone!) . The bartender that evening recommended the Brownfield Burger with Goat Cheese and it was spot on. This spot is a comfortable 50's nostalgic interior complete with old fashion grilled goods and a few 21st century twists on the menu (check out some of the other burgers, or hummus for an appetizer), great to take the kids to and since there's always about 4 decent suds on tap (good beers, not bud, bud lite, miller, and coors) you're all set! Come out some night for an improv comedy show in the cozy theatre built between this and the Westport Coffee House...nice use of space I must say!

My friend and I went to Green Room Friday with a groupon that I had gotten awhile back for 2 appetizers and 4 beers. We ordered the 2 fry apps they had on the menu, can't remember what they were called but WOW, it was a meal of cheesy deliciousness with an overeasy egg on top. We both had Blvd's 80 Acre which went well with the fries. I'd go there again.

Burger: ordered it medium, sent it back twice. Ketchup: says its house-made.. its not. Straight Heinz from a bottle and when I asked the server about it, she admitted that it was store bought. Beer: good choices served in the glass equivalent of a dixie cup providing an illusion of value. Service: I was there, at the bar, for exactly 9 minutes with NO acknowledgment at all from the OWNER who was wrapping with folks more important than me just 3 seats down. The onion on my burger would have been better sliced by a ban saw as it was about 3/4 of an inch thick. Bun was soggy and tasted like it was from a Hostess Wholesaler. My husband and I recently moved here from a serious food town so I guess our standards are far too high. this place sort of gives the earnest, independent, restauranteur a bad name all together. Why go here when I can get a better value and experience all together at a place like Applebee's. The environment was somewhere between a doctor's office and a church lobby. I read about them in a gratuitous pitch blog and wanted to check them out. I was wildly disappointed. They didn't even offer to comp my burger even though they over cooked it twice. Seemed a bit like the blind leading the blind and hungry.

My family loves this place!!! We found the Green Room using Yelp in search of good burger places in Kansas City. We went for the first time soon after they first opened. I ordered the 4010 (avocado, jalapeno and bacony goodness) and my husband ordered the Dubliner (dubliner cheese, mustard & pickles). We do that couples thing where we trade dishes half way so we each get to taste a variety. I am NOT a fan of pickles on sandwiches. Period. so I was a little peeved that he ordered that one hating pickles as I do ...unless it's the Dubliner. It was a perfect combination, and I'm drooling just thinking about it. I will still ask for no pickles everywhere else, but this one is extra special. While we were there, the staff was so friendly and took great care of our 5 year old son. Being a new restaurant, they didn't have things to offer kiddos (and that is fine - I don't think they have to!), but my son not being shy asked if he could have "some crayons or something". I apologize for that. Our server went out of his way and found him a blank piece of paper and then gave him his own pen. After our meal the server and one of the owners (I think) came out and hung his picture up on the wall. We just went again recently and saw that it's still hanging. That alone earns huge cool points in my book...but go there for the burgers. They are really delish!!!

Ok, this is NOT a dive. My husband and I tried the Green Room despite the previous reviewers descriptions of a mom's basement. We were prepared for the disturbingly sticky decor of the old Kenny's Newsroom. NOT THE CASE. More like a happy California new age diner that caters to both Veggies and Meateaters who enjoy a great musical mix of jazz, punk and rock, great food and a great regionally brewed beer at awesome prices. You will love this place if you are an artist or a lawyer. The service is kind and passionate and on a nice day I will try the new patio with the pass thru order window.
